From Punta Cana or Santo Domingo, take the Autopista de Las Americas (Highway 3) until you reach the intersection with the Autopista del Nordeste to Samaná. Head north on the Autopista del Nordeste (Highway 7) until the intersection with Highway 5 (direction Samaná). Turn right on Highway 5 and keep going until the town of Samaná, passing the airport of El Catey. There really is only one road so you can’t go wrong. In Samaná keep going on the main road, which borders the Bay of Samaná on your right for a while, passing the small harbor before veering off into the hills. You will pass several small settlements, including Los Cacaos and Los Gratini. When you see the sign La Talanquera you are close. Watch for a small green building on the right, called El Gato Azul. Next to the building turn right on the villa’s dirt road driveway and keep going for about 400 meters to the entrance gate.

From Las Galeras it’s about a 7 km drive (12 minutes). Head out of town on the only paved road. Once you pass the intersection to Rincon, watch for the Texaco gas station (“la bomba”). About 1 km further turn left on the dirt road drive way next to a small green building called El Gato Azul. Keep going for about 400 meters to the entrance gate.

By Public Transport

From Santo Domingo we recommend taking a public bus of Caribe Tours to the market in Samaná (about 400 pesos per person). Then, from the market in Samaná take a small minibus to Las Galeras (about 30 minutes, 100 pesos per person). Ask the driver to drop you off at El Gato Azul in La Talanquera, about 500 m before the Texaco gas station. Next to El Gato Azul, walk down the 400 meter dirt road driveway to the entrance gate. If you have luggage, the caretaker Radhames will be happy to collect it for you.

If you are coming from Las Galeras, you can take a “motoconcho” from the crossroads in town for about 100-150 pesos (have the correct change). Tell the driver to go to the Texaco gas station (“la bomba”). About 1 km further turn left on the dirt road drive way next to a small green building called El Gato Azul. Keep going for about 400 meters to the entrance gate.
